HK Global Development Prize and 2024 The Future Science Prize Exhibition

The HK Global Development Prize is seeking innovative ideas to strengthen Hong Kong’s role as a global innovation hub and enhance its international development work.

The winning submission will be awarded HK$5000 and will have the opportunity to present their ideas to key stakeholders in the development sector. The prize is funded by Generocity, a Hong Kong-based non-governmental organisation, and will be held in October.

Prizes

The IPHS offers a range of prizes to encourage and reward excellence in the study of planning history worldwide. The most prestigious is the Peter Hall Award, given for sustained excellence in published work that advances scholarship in planning history and conveys its relevance to contemporary planning challenges. Other prizes include the IPHS Essay Prize for best papers presented at its biennial international conferences, and the John Hodgson Lectureship, which is awarded to a young planner who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the advancement of planning history.

2024 The Future Science Prize Exhibition

Until November 4, the Hong Kong Science Museum (HKScM) is staging “2024 The Future Science Prize Exhibition” on its G/F Exhibition Hall to showcase the research achievements and contributions of the four scientists whose studies have won this year’s Future Science Prize. The exhibition will also introduce the public to the scientific concepts behind these cutting-edge fields of science.

Prizes

2023/24 Hong Kong racing will offer record prize money and incentives with a total purse up 9.5% to HK$1.62 billion next season, led by a huge boost in the BMW Hong Kong Derby (2000m) prize fund from HK$5 million to HK$24 million on the back of Romantic Warrior’s success. The Club has also lifted the prize money for all Grade 1 contests, while races over 1600m and beyond will continue to enjoy a 10% premium in prize money over those over shorter distances.

The Club has also increased the bonus structures for horses bred or bought out of the Hong Kong International Sale, reaffirming its commitment to supporting high-quality racing. Those bred or purchased out of the sale will earn a HK$600,000 bonus when successful in a Class 3 contest within their first full season, and an added HK$400,000 for any win before the end of their five-year-old year in Class 2 and above when rated 80 or higher.

Horses from the Southern Hemisphere, on the other hand, will only be eligible for PP and PPG bonuses until the end of their four-year-old year. The club has made some adjustments to the rules of the PP and PPG Bonus Schemes to reflect these changes. More details are available in the HK Jockey Club’s Prizes and Incentives booklet.
