What is Data SGP?

Data sgp is the collective of aggregated student performance data collected over time that teachers and administrators use to make decisions about instruction and assessment. It is a set of individual-level measures like test scores and growth percentiles, as well as aggregated measures at the school and district levels including class size, attendance rates and graduation rates. Data SGP is important because it helps us better understand students’ progress over time. This information can be used to identify areas for improvement, inform classroom practices, evaluate schools/districts, and support broader research initiatives.

SGP scores are reported on a 1-99 scale, with higher numbers indicating more relative growth than lower ones. For example, a student who has an SGP score of 75 shows that the student has shown more growth than about 75 percent of their academic peers. This is a useful metric because it provides educators and parents with a quick and easy way to determine whether their students have grown more than, less than or about as much as expected.

In addition to the SGP summary report, educators can also access the more detailed sgpData spreadsheet by selecting a student in the report and choosing the “SGP Data” tab. This tab displays the SGP data for a student over the course of five years (see the “Data SGP Format” section below for more details). The first column, ID, provides the student’s unique identifier. The following 5 columns, SS_2013, SS_2014, SS_2015, SS_2016 and SS_2017, provide the student’s assessment score for each of the five years that have been tested.

The sgpData spreadsheet is a convenient and straightforward way for educators to use SGP data to inform their instructional decisions and evaluate school/district performance. The spreadsheet is formatted so that it is easy to compare students across the school or across the district, as well as across different grades and subjects. The sgpData spreadsheet also includes additional information about a student, such as their gender and socioeconomic status, which is not available in the summary report.

The sgpData spreadsheet is incredibly useful for evaluating SGP data, and we encourage all educators to utilize it as they continue to improve the learning outcomes of their students. We hope that you find this tool valuable and look forward to hearing from you! Thanks for your continued support of the OpenSGP project.
