The HK Prize 2022
HK Prize offers high school students the opportunity to win cash prizes and other perks for participating in various competitions. It is one of the most coveted high school contests, drawing thousands of applicants each year. The contest aims to recognize academic achievements, talent and extracurricular participation. It also rewards those who have leadership and passion for community service. Applicants must first be nominated by their teachers in order to be eligible for the prize.
The Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Prize, sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, is an annual award that celebrates scientific research with global impact. This prestigious merit-based prize honors scientists whose research creates real social and economic value. The prize is open to anyone worldwide who has made significant contributions in any field of science – be it artificial intelligence/robotics, life/healthcare, materials/energy, or advanced manufacturing/FinTech. The winner will receive both a monetary prize and the opportunity to conduct research in Hong Kong.
In 2022, the hk prize winners included activists fighting for freedom and democracy, some of whom were arrested or jailed as they pursued their cause; community service initiatives, such as a nonprofit providing shelter to homeless adults; and many other examples of courageous people standing up for values they believe in while contributing to society. The nominations for this year’s prize have not yet been announced.
A total of 113 prizes were awarded at the 2022 Hong Kong News Awards, including four wins in arts and culture journalism. The Post’s senior reporter Xi Tianqi won two runner-up awards in the Best News Writing category for her series on Hong Kong’s efforts to become a cultural hub, while copy editor James Cook won first runner-up in the Best Business News Writing category for his story about the barriers to speeding up the adoption of electric cars.
This annual prize was established in honour of Professor George B. Endacott, who was responsible for re-establishing the Department of History in 1946 and built the subject into a respectable area of scholarship. The prize was re-designated in 1992 with the help of donations from former colleagues, and it aims to recognise excellence in research conducted by young Fellows of the Academy on topics relevant to clinical practice and healthcare.
The HK Film Awards are an annual set of awards given by the Hong Kong Film Critics Association to films released in the territory. Founded in 1993, the HKFA is run by a group of professional film workers and critics from thirteen local film organizations, and is widely considered to be the most authoritative film award in Hong Kong. The HK Film Awards are presented during the Hong Kong International Film Festival in May each year. The winners are voted by members of the public. In addition to the major categories, there are a number of smaller categories for special achievement. In addition to a large cash prize, the winner of each category receives a trophy designed by renowned artist Wong Chi-wai.
